5 amusement park rides to try this summer

BALTIMORE - Summer officially begins Friday. So there's no better place to go than amusement parks near Baltimore.

1. Hersheypark

Only 88 "smiles" from Charm City, sits the sweetest place on earth – Hersheypark. They take the ultimate plunge with their latest roller coaster, Skyrush – a  200-foot climb and topping 75 miles per hour.

2. Kings Dominion

For the kids, Kings Dominion's newest attraction – Planet Snoopy has tons of fun for the little ones. Charlie Brown and friends are ready for fun and adventure.

3. Six Flags America

The zombies are at The Apocalypse stand up coaster at Six Flags America in Mitchellville, Prince George's County.  

4. Busch Gardens

Take an 88-foot dive on the Verbolten indoor-outdoor coaster at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia.

5. Maryland State Parks

Who needs a roller coaster when you have Mother Nature? Check out the parks across the Old Line State. Maryland is considered "America in miniature," so here's your chance to sort of cross the country while staying in state.
