Police have identified two young children killed in an explosion and fire at a Silver Spring apartment complex this month.

Deibi "David" Samir Lainez Morales, 8, and Fernando Josue Hernandez Orellana, 3, were killed in the fire at the Flower Branch apartments August 10.

A total of seven people were killed. Three victims were identified last week and investigators are still working to identify the two remaining victims.

Some residents reported smelling natural gas before the explosion; officials also had been called to the building July 25 by residents who reported smelling gas.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said last week that a buildup of natural gas caused the explosion.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
