Significant snow, ice to drop across parts of U.S.

March is coming in like a lion as a winter storm cuts across the middle of the country this weekend.

The low forming today over the Central Plains will move east into the Midwest and the Ohio Valley bringing snow, ice and rain over the weekend and into early next week. As of this article’s publication, the low’s exact track and the rain-snow line is still uncertain.

This is going to be a big storm that drops a significant amount of snow across part of the country spanning from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic. Some snowfall totals will be close to a foot in parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, but the cut-off between the snow and the rain is going to be abrupt.

As of right now, that elusive line is bouncing between Interstate 70 and I-50 to 100 miles south of there.

As the storm continues to develop, meteorologists will get a better handle on the situation, but one thing is for sure, this is going to cause travel delays on the road and in the air all weekend.
