LAUREL, Md. - A woman standing next to her disabled car was hit by an alleged drunk driver in Howard County Friday night.
Police say around 9:45 p.m. Debra Watson, 50, was on the shoulder of Rt. 29 near Rt. 216 next to her broken down Pontiac minivan when her vehicle was hit by a 2007 Volvo XC90 driving south on Rt. 29. The minivan then hit Watson and pushed her into the guardrail.
The victim was taken to Shock Trauma where she is listed in serious but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation reveals the 58-year-old driver of the Volvo may have been drinking and failed to stay in his lane.
Police are investigating.
