Because of the flash flood a few weeks ago in Ellicott City, a lot of debris was  washed into the Patapsco River.

On Tuesday, volunteers went to Patapsco Valley State Park to pick up trash around the Avalon area.

It wasn't just trash in the river they were looking for, volunteers were told to be on the look out for items people may have lost and washed away in the flood.

"We are possible going to be finding personal belongings. So one of the goals today to is if we find any valuable things that could belong to somebody that we could get back to  them to bring some little sense of hope and happiness to be reunited with an item. We are going to do that as well today too," said Heather Wandell of the Patapsco Heritage Greenway.

Additional clean ups will be scheduled in the future.
