LAUREL, Md. - A woman who was injured in a house fire in Laurel Thursday morning has since died.
Kimberly Ann Murphy-Smith, 50, suffered "significant injuries" after a fire broke out inside her home in the 9500 block of Canterbury Riding Lane, according to Howard County police.
Firefighters pulled her from the burning building and she was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital for treatment where she later died.
Police believe the fire was accidental.
No one else was inside the house at the time and no other injuries were reported in connection with the blaze.
A family in the home next door was evacuated and their home sustained smoke and water damage.
