ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Howard County police have released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle collision Tuesday in Ellicott City.
Terrence Alan Robinson, 24, of Windsor Mill, was killed when he was struck by a car around 11:15 a.m. while speeding through a red light.
Police said an officer observed Robinson speeding westbound on Route 40 near the Howard County line. The officer activated emergency equipment and attempted to stop the motorcycle, but Robinson refused to stop, police said.
To avoid a high-speed pursuit, the officer deactivated his emergency equipment and stopped following the motorcycle.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle continued speeding through a red light at the intersection of Route 40 and Normandy Drive. He then sped into the intersection through a red light at Route 40 and Rogers Avenue, where he was struck by a 2001 Saturn making a legal left turn on a green arrow.
Carole Ann Fisher, 78, of Ellicott City, the driver of the Saturn, was taken to Howard County General Hospital as a precaution. She had no serious injuries.
Police said Robinson did not have a motorcycle operator's license and his standard driver's license was suspended.
