A 91-year-old Pikesville man has been identified as the person killed over the weekend in a fatal crash on Baltimore National Pike, Howard County police said.
Police said Joseph Kryszpel was driving a 2000 Lincoln Town Car traveling eastbound on Baltimore National Pike in the westbound lanes. At the same time, about 6:32 p.m. Saturday, a 2013 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound Baltimore National Pike and was struck head-on by the Lincoln Town Car. The collision occurred just east of Marriottsville Road.
Kryszpel was taken to Howard County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Nam Hee Choe, 46, of the 2000 block of Annie Court in Sykesville was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and is listed in stable condition.
Westbound Baltimore National Pike was closed for about two hours as police investigated. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, police said.
