Some progress is being made on Main Street in Ellicott City following the July 31 flood.

Starting Wednesday, a portion of the upper part of Main Street was open to foot traffic.

From Ellicott Mills Drive to Court Avenue, and on Old Columbia Pike down to Main Street are where officials will allow people to go and some businesses to open.

"It is good to get Main Street up and going. There is just a few businesses open and in a few more weeks you will see a few more businesses open, you'll see the street opening up to pedestrian traffic and eventually to cars. So, it will be great when every one comes back," said Dave Carney owner of The Wine Bin.

The Wine Bin will open Thursday. The Judge's Bench across the street has also re-opened.
