Twenty-two people were displaced in a three-alarm apartment fire in Howard County Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to the Country Meadows Apartments in the 9700 block of Country Meadows Lane around 10:40 a.m. for a report of a fire.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the 2nd and 3rd floor apartment units and a 2nd alarm was requested. The third alarm was requested at about 25 minutes into the incident for additional resources.

All the residents made it out of the building before firefighters arrived. Three people were treated at the scene and a third was taken to Howard County General for an ankle injury and second degree burns. No firefighters were hurt.

The displaced residents are being assisted by the Red Cross and apartment management.

Investigators have not determined a cause.
