Trucks collide in Howard County; Ellicott City man critically injured

Howard County authorities are investigating a series accident from Thursday that critically injured an Ellicott City man and forced the closure of the ramp to Interstate 70 in Marriottsville for three hours.

An International Tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer collided with a 2008 Toyota Tundra Thursday morning at about 9:39 a.m., according to a release from the Howard County police department The tractor trailer was turning onto Marriottsville Road heading south from westbound Interstate 70. The Toyota, driven by Ellicott City man Mark Thompson Ford, was headed northbound when it crashed into the tractor trailer.

Ford, 51, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life threatening injuries. He was last listed in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed.
