Recycling program turns Christmas trees into mulch, compost

Recycle your Christmas tree

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. - The holidays are over and you've started taking down your decorations.  Before you put your Christmas tree out with the trash, consider recycling it through a free Howard County program called "Merry Mulch."

From January 2 until the 18, you can drop off your Christmas tree at several locations throughout the county.  The trees are then taken to a compost facility where they are recycled into compost and mulch.

Drop off times are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.
