Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman said a portion of the western end of Main Street that suffered the least amount of flood damage will reopen Wednesday.

Access will open at two locations, reducing Main Street’s current “no-access” zone and allowing some businesses to reopen.

On-street parking on Main Street is still prohibited, officials said.

Crews are scheduled to repave Merryman and Hill Streets later this week, yet there’s still work to be done. Repairs to sidewalks and buildings are in store, and BGE is installing a new 4-inch gas line on Main Street from Court Avenue to Maryland Avenue.

Plans to reopen the Patapsco River Bridge in September are in the works.
