Police search for missing elderly woman

COLUMBIA, Md. -  

UPDATE: Howard County police found Barbara Defronzo, 84, at a traffic stop in Anne Arundel County. The Silver Alert has been canceled. 

Howard County Police issued a Silver Alert for an elderly woman who went missing from her Columbia home Saturday afternoon.

Police say Barbara Higgins Defronzo, 84,  was last seen by a neighbor around 9:30 a.m.  Saturday.  A family member left home at 6 a.m. and returned at 11:30 a.m. to find Defronzo gone from their home in the 9200 block of Feathered Head in Columbia.  She left in a 2004 tan Chevy Cavalier 2-door sedan with MD tag PXB-650.  

Defronzo is described as a white female, 4'11' tall, 130 lbs., medium build, gray hair, blue eyes, and silver eyeglasses with small rims.  It is unknown what she was last wearing. 

Police are concerned about Defronzo's welfare.  She has been diagnosed with dementia and has a medical condition that requires daily medication. 

Police believe she may be traveling north toward Connecticut, but could still be in the area. A Silver Alert has been issued. Anyone with information should call 911.
