A man armed with a pellet gun was shot in a standoff with police after he threatened to kill his family and himself, Howard County Police said.
Police said James Andrew Schueler, 42, of Columbia is in serious condition. Police shot him after he waved a weapon, which was revealed to be a replica pellet gun, at him.
Police said the gun was nearly identical to a semi-automatic pistol.
Around 7:05 a.m. Monday, a 911 caller said a man with a gun was on his way to an address in Columbia.

Tamar Drive was closed between Phelps Luck Drive and Route 175 in Columbia for the investigation. People were asked to avoid the area.
