COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) - A park in Maryland that was destroyed by arson is scheduled to reopen.

Officials in Howard County say they will hold a ribbon cutting on Tuesday to mark the reopening of Huntington Park's playground.

The park has been closed since being destroyed by arson on May 26, 2015. Authorities have said the blaze caused $40,000 in damage.

Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman and State Sen. Guy Guzzone are among the officials scheduled to be there for the playground's re-opening.

After the fire, an 18-year-old was charged with two counts of malicious burning in the case. Online court records show the case has since been dropped.
