COLUMBIA, Md. - Parents with children in the Howard County School district are encouraged to attend two community forums about school safety. The discussions come in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. school shooting where 26 people died, including 20 children.
County executive Ken Ulman created the Joint Task Force on School Safety shortly after the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting. Parents can give their thoughts and opinions on how the county can improve its security protocols and the way it responds to emergencies.
The first forum is Tuesday January 8 at Wilde Lake High school from 7-9 p.m. The second one is on Monday January 14 at the same time and location as the first forum.
