Kupcakes & Co. owner Michelle Kupiec is looking ahead to the future after her bakery's win on the Cooking Channel's new show "Cake Hunters."

"We're in the process of opening a second location and expanding our wedding services," she said. "We'll continue doing what we love and thriving in the wedding business making more difficult and challenging cakes."

The newest "Cake Hunters" episode featured three Maryland bakeries: Kupcakes & Co. in Elkridge, La Cakerie in Towson and Sweet Thing Black Orchid in Waldorf.

In each episode, three bakeries compete to be the winning bakery to make a cake for a party host's big event.

Kupcakes & Co. came out on top in the show's seventh episode, titled "Mint for Each Other." The episode premiered Wednesday, but was filmed in October 2015. It featured a couple from Virginia with opposing ideas about their wedding cake and only two weeks left until their wedding date.

"Our design was very much driven by the likes and elements of Alli and Pat's wedding," Kupiec said.

The bride wore parts of her mother's lace wedding veil, so the team incorporated the lace patterning onto the cake.

"We also loved that fact that their relationship was built on a strong foundation," Kupiec said. "We made an edible tree trunk for the bottom of the cake to represented starting off strong in their marriage."

The winning wedding cake was 5 feet high, weighed 250 pounds and cost $7,500 to make. Half-baked cookie dough, brownie, buttercream and white chocolate flavors were baked throughout the cake.

The Kupcakes & Co. staff even made a special cake for the groom.

The feaatured couple tasted cake samples from each of the three bakeries before deciding on a direction. Kupiec and her team were excited when they found out the couple chose Kupcakes & Co. to make their wedding cake.

"Oh my gosh, we were ecstatic. We were literally blown away. It was the chance of a lifetime to showcase our talent," she said. "It took my entire staff of 21 to put the cake together. I couldn't be more proud and humbled by the experience," she said.

Kupiec and her husband, Bill Kupiec, opened their bakery in 2011 with the help of their twin daughters, Amanda and Allison.

Kupcakes & Co. is located at 6010 Meadowridge Center Dr. in Elkridge.
