Visiting Santa is a must do for kids this time of year. But for children with autism, all the lights, noise and big crowds can be too much.
So the Mall in Columbia brought in Santa an hour earlier on Wednesday to visit with these kids and their families.
From 9 AM to 10 AM, children with autism and their families visited with Santa. The mall dimmed the lights, turned off the music, and kept it quiet to create a sensory friendly environment.
The families didn't have to wait in line. Instead they were given numbers and called when it's their turn. They also had activities for kids to do while waiting.
The Howard County Autism Society sponsored the event.
