Eight Howard County schools are without power Wednesday following a severe storm that hit the Maryland area Tuesday afternoon.
Howard County Public Schools announced the following school buildings are without power:
- Glenelg High School
- Howard High School
- Marriotts Ridge High School
- West Friendship Elementary School
- Manor Woods Elementary School
- Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School
- Swansfield Elementary School
- Rockburn Elementary School
Howard High School is without power and summer school activities are canceled Wednesday. No camps will take place at schools without power.
Summer school is still open at Oakland Mills High School and the ARL. Howard County Public Schools administrative offices will be open.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Howard County Tuesday during the storm, leaving downed trees and thousands of BGE customers in Howard County without power.
