COULMBIA, Md. - Musician Jack Johnson joined Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and other officials for a news conference Thursday to highlight improvements at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
The Howard County Council just approved $9.5 million which will be used for renovations to Merriweather Post Pavilion, to be matched with $9.5 million that will be provided by the owner of the pavilion, The Howard Hughes Corporation.
The $19 million will fund major renovations to the pavilion, including significant environmental upgrades. Johnson has been a driving force in raising environmental awareness, particularly at venues on his tour. Organizers of the news conference said thanks to Johnson’s encouragement, Merriweather has become a leader in implementing eco-conscious improvements.
