A 16-year-old Oakland Mills High School student shared a racially offensive post online Wednesday, prompting an investigation from Howard County Public Schools.

School spokesman John White said the school system discovered the racist post on Wednesday. The teen posted his own image with racist comments on the website iFunny.

White said the boy admitted what he did, his guardians were contacted and the principle at Oakland Mills notified all parents. Discipline is being handled in accordance with the school system's student code of conduct.

The incident comes a few weeks after a similar incident was reported involving an Atholton High School student.

In that case, the student shared a racially charged post that was three years old.
