HOWARD COUNTY - Most kids would say classes start too early, and it appears some of their parents agree. A father in Howard County has started a group to get the start times pushed back.
Mark Donovan is the creator of the group "Start School Later Howard County." On his website, he says he has seen the effects early start times have on his children. High school students begin class as early as 7:25 a.m. Middle school students will begin class between 7:40 and 8:30 a.m. Donovan has a petition on his website, which you can find here .
School board officials in Howard County say they're studying the opening times and the impact its having on the health and well being of student. They say they must look into how it will effect transportation, after-school activities and the school system's operating budget.
