Howard County Police have identified the officer who shot a suicidal man Monday in Columbia.
Officer 1st Class Zachary Cerrone, a 10-year veteran of the police department assigned to the tactical section, fired a single shot at James Schueler after Schueler pointed a pellet gun at officers.
Cerrone has been placed on standard administrative leave with pay.
Schueler is currently in fair condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
