ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - If you need medical care in Howard County, these are some people you'd want around as you wait for the ambulance.
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue was recognized today for innovations that improved cardiac care response times.
Among the most notable accomplishments is the department's development of a community hands-only CPR program.
It involves the partnership with the Howard County Public School System.
The schools recently purchased mannequins for the schools, and teachers can train the students in CPR. This program has now been mandated into school curriculum for Howard County and serves as a graduation requirement for both 6th and 9th graders.
