Two people died and more than 100 people were rescued from area homes and businesses over the weekend after massing flooding devastated Ellicott City.
Joseph Anthony Blevins, 38 of Windsor Mill and Jessica Watsula, 35 of Lebanon, Pa. were both swept away in a torrent of flood waters that ravaged the area near Main Street in the city's downtown district.
Their bodies were both found nearly three miles away close to the Patapsco River.
Police said Watsula was visiting Ellicott City with family the night of the storms. Their car was swept away and Watsula was the only one who didn’t make it out of the vehicle safely. Her body was found around 2:20 a.m. Sunday roughly 200 yards from the Ilchester Bridge.

Blevins was in Ellicott City with his girlfriend when their car floated away with the couple still inside. His girlfriend was rescued, but Blevins was not. The body was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Sunday when a man walking a trail found his body washed up on shore near Ilchester Road and the Howard County line.
Six inches of rain fell between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday night, amounting to a month's worth of rain in just a two-hour span, according to Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman. Some longtime residents said it was the worst damage seen since Hurricane Agnes hit in 1972.
