COLUMBIA, Md. - Howard County’s first Whole Foods Market opened Wednesday morning with an open-air market, door busters, samples and gifts to the first 200 shoppers.
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman announced two years ago that Whole Foods, known for its natural and organic products, would open in the former Rouse Company building on Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia. The building was formerly occupied by the Howard Hughes Corporation.
Ulman spoke at a bread-breaking ceremony that kicked off the opening, along with Whole Foods Market Regional President Scott Allshouse and the Columbia store team leader Svetlana Piskounova.
The Columbia Whole Foods is the company’s fifth store in Maryland.
