Escaped inmate David Watson will stay jailed in Howard County for the foreseeable future.

Watson escaped from police custody in April while being transported to Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center in Jessup by two Wicomico County detention center officers. He was being taken for a mental evaluation.

Nearly a week after he escaped police found the 28-year-old hiding in an 18-inch drainage pipe in a wooded area off of Dorsey Run Road.

Watson is serving over a 100 year sentence for trying to kill police in Delaware. He was convicted of attempted murder after shooting into an officer's home. He's now charged with doing the same thing to police in Wicomico County, Maryland.

Watson has a bail review hearing in Howard County on Friday, May 12. Previously a judged ruled Watson was incompetent to stand trial.
