Columbia residents displaced after fire rips through family home

Residents are safe after their two-story family home goes up in flames in Columbia.

According to Howard County Fire Department the fire broke out shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Over 50 firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the 8800 block of Tidesebb Court in Columbia for the reported house fire.

Upon arrival firefighters discovered a two-story single family home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire around 1:30 a.m.

One resident of the home was taken to Shock Trauma for smoke inhalation.

A dog was also evacuated safely and is being cared for by neighbor.

Authorities said no firefighters were injured in the fire.

The home has been deemed unsafe.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
