5 injured; 1 taken to Shock Trauma after crash near Mount Hebron High

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - UPDATE | Officials with the Howard County Police Department say five people  were injured in the crash near Mount Hebron High School. Thursday. They are all believed to be students of the school on Old Frederick Road.

The crash reportedly involved a Honda Civic and a Mack truck.

The Honda Civic was driven by 18-year-old Jeffrey Conner Sinclair, how officials say is in critical condition. He was taken to Shock Trauma.

Fouth other students were taken to Howard County General Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Those students have been identified as Justyn Richard Alexander, 17; Michael Dennis Brooks, 15; Elish Shannon Brown 17 and Urek Ali Bradshaw 16. All the victims are male.

Officials say the crash happened between 2:20 and 2:30 p.m. They believe the car the students were riding in pulled out from the school parking lot and was struck by the Mack truck. Investigators say the truck is owned by a tree removal service and was traveling westbound on Route 99.

While officials say it is unsure if the car as turning right or left out of the parking lot, they believe, at least initially, the car pulled out directly into the path of the truck.

Officials say the 43-year-old driver of the Mack truck was not injured.
