In just a few weeks riders will gather in Columbia for a unique event helping to raise money to fight cancer.
But for one team- this ride is especially important.
It's the little things that make Pablo Koropecky think about his friend Brian.
The two played basketball together at Johns Hopkins University.
Last year, Brian Cosgrove was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Cosgrove, an athlete already, came across a flyer promoting a 24 hour bike event, and from there, the team Brian's Batallion was formed.
Cycling became his passion. Less than three weeks after a treatment he completed the ride - biking past his goal of 70 miles within 24 hours.
Cosgrove had plans to ride again in August, but lost his battle with cancer in May.
"He did the best he could while he was here. He fought as strong as he could but its up to the rest of us to take on the fight for him," Koropecky said.
And taking on the fight is what they'll do.
With family and friends, Brian's Batallian will continue on, riding Aug. 20-21 in the 24 Hours of Booty event in Columbia.
24 hours of booty raises money for the Livestrong Foundation and the Ulman Cancer Fund for young adults. The event in Columbia began nine years ago and continues to grow.
