Woman rescues 8 baby opossums after mother is struck, killed by car

Woman rescued eight baby opossums after mother was struck and killed in Jarretsville Tuesday evening. 

The Harford County Sheriff's office said, an unidentified woman driving on Sharon Road when she pulled over and rescued eight baby opossums.  After she rescued the joeys she drove home and contacted Animal Control. 

Early Wednesday morning, Animal Control officers picked up the opossums and transported them to a local vet for initial treatment. 

All eight opossums were later taken to the Susquehannock Wildlife Society for long-tern care. 

Animal Control officers would like to remind everyone, "If you strike an animal with your vehicle and can safely check on it, please do so."
