Two Navy divers killed in Aberdeen Super Pond

ABDERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - Two Navy divers were killed today while they were in the underwater explosion test facility.

A Public Affairs Officer tells ABC2 News that emergency personnel from the Aberdeen Proving Ground Emergency Services responded around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Super Pond.

Once on the scene, one victim was declared deceased while a second victim was transported to a local hospital and then pronounced dead.
A Navy spokesperson says the two sailors are based at Joint base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia and were performing routine diving operations at the time of their deaths. 
The names of the victims are being withheld for up to 24 hours as is Navy procedure. 
No other details have been released.
On January 30, George Lazzaro, Jr., an engineering technician died accidentally while completing routine maintenance on the Super Pond.
