Tree blocks traffic on Joppa Farm Road

EDGEWOOD, Md. - Winds from hybrid storm Hurricane Sandy were felt across the area Monday long before the storm make landfall. Trees fell, buildings shook and rain pounded roadways.

While Maryland governor Martin O'Malley discouraged traffic, there were some that had no option.

Those traveling southbound on Route 40 (Joppa Farm Road) in Edgewood saw first-hand why roads were to be avoided. A tree fell across the road, blocking traffic and turning commutes in the middle of a hurricane into nightmares.
