A deadly pedestrian-involved crash is under investigation in Harford County, according to Maryland State Police.

State police said Timothy L. White, Jr., 22, was killed in the crash.

The accident happened at 4:15 a.m. Thursday on Route 7 at Gunpowder Ridge Road in Joppa.

Police said Wayne A. Thompson, 61, was driving a pickup truck when he came upon White's body lying in the road on Route 7, prior to Gunpowder Ridge Road. Thompson was unable to avoid White, and hit him.

Troopers found him administering CPR to White when they arrived.

Police found White's car, a silver Honda CRV, not far away on a hill on Gunpowder Ridge Road. The engine was running and the car was in drive. Investigators are unsure why he left his car that way, or why White was lying in the road.

Family members told police White was expected home around 1 a.m. Police said he was last seen at a convenience store buying food on Joppa Road shortly after 2 a.m.

Anyone who witnessed this crash or has information about the vehicle or driver responsible, should contact Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack at 410-879-2101, Ext. 0. Callers may remain confidential.

Route 7 reopened around 8:30 a.m.
