He always wanted to be a police officer, Pastor Ben Cachiaras said.
DFC Mark Logsdon of the Harford County Sheriff's Office was killed in the line of duty Feb. 10. 2016.
On Saturday the community came together to say their final goodbyes to the fallen hero.
At the start of the service, Cachiaras shared a few words from the family.
"Mark's daughter Bethany said something I think the whole family would feel when she said 'I've always thought of my dad as a hero. I've always thought he was awesome, I've always loved him, but to hear so many other people say that they think he's a hero and that they respect and love him too means more than you'll ever know,'" Cachiaras said.
He went on to share a story from Logsdon mother. He explained that when he was four years old, his uncle gave him a badge and he boldly walked up to adults and told them they were under arrest.
"He wanted to take care of the bad guys and protect everyone. Being a police officer was his dream. And that little boy grew to be a man who wore a real uniform first in the military and then a badge of a deputy and every day he marched straight into the face of danger to do the job he loved and died doing," Cachiaras said.
