A Maryland State Trooper was taken to a hospital after being involved in a crash Sunday night.
The incident occurred on Interstate 95 northbound in Aberdeen around 9:49 p.m.
Representatives say the trooper was working the night shift on a construction assignment when a driver struck his cruiser from behind. Police say the driver allegedly did not see the officer's vehicle with the emergency lights on.
When additional units arrived to the scene, they determined the driver of the vehicle did not crash into the trooper as a result of being intoxicated.
The driver has been identified by police as 28-year-old Christofe Taylor of Logan Township, New Jersey. He was arrested for multiple charges including, "CDS possession not marijuana, marijuana over 10 grams, negligent driving, driving on suspended out of state, possessing suspended license and displaying suspended license."
The trooper has been identified as First Sergeant Robert Cummings who has been with the State Police for 14 years. He was flown to shock trauma as a precaution, although he did not display any evidence of having sustained serious injuries.
