A Joppa man was killed early Wednesday after he was hit by a box truck in the driveway of a Super 8 Motel.

Scott Ores Jackson, 21, was killed around 12:30 a.m. while running toward his home when a box truck turned toward the motel's parking lot and began crossing the driveway, in the 1000 block of Pulaski Highway. As the truck passed Jackson, it is believed he lost his footing and fell into the path of the truck's back wheels.

The driver and passenger in the box truck were unaware of the incident, and continued into the hotel parking lot. Neither was injured. After speaking with deputies, they were released.

Detectives believe Jackson's death to be accidental.

No citations were issued at the scene. After consultation with the Harford County State's Attorney's Office, no charges will be filed. Jackson's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

As the investigation continues, anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Det. Christopher Maddox at 443-409-3551.
