A 43-year-old Harford County deputy died early Thursday morning. According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office the officer had a heart attack during the funeral for another officer.
In a press release issued Thursday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said Sgt. Loughran began to suffer symptoms of a heart attack on Wednesday during the funeral of Cpl. Charles Licato. Officals say Loughran died at his home Thursday, sometime after midnight.
Loughran was a 16-year veteran of the Harford County Sheriff's Office. He was married and had one child.
The death is the third of a Harford County law enforcement officer in a week.
Cpl Charles Licato was killed on September 6 in a single-car crash in Darlington.
Two days after later, Aberdeen police officer Charles Armetta fell from an elevated section of I-95 in Baltimore and died.
"Yesterday I spoke of a new star in the heavens when speaking of Charles Licato, today it seems a second star now joins him," said Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane.
