Fire displaces transitional housing residents in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, Md. - Twelve occupants of a transitional housing residence in Aberdeen were displaced Sunday following a fire.

According to the state Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire began about 11:30 a.m. at the residence, owned by SAFE – Sober Recovery, located on the unit block of Philadelphia Blvd.

The fire was discovered by the occupants and started in the second-floor bedroom. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire marshal’s office said the displaced residents are staying with family and friends until additional housing becomes available. In all, the fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage.
