This Christmas will be different for the Saulsbury family, owners of the Jarrettsville Nursery.

Earlier this year, they lost their husband and father, Boyd, to cancer and his wife and children are now faced with the task of opening up the Jarrettsville Nursery for families to pick their perfect tree.

Thankfully, the Saulsbury family is not alone.  They have the support of family, friends the Harford County Farm Bureau and the community.

Mike Doran, president of the Harford County Farm Bureau, put out a plea on Facebook, asking for help Sunday to get the farm ready.  The response has been overwhelming.

“We think it could be an amazing way to show how a farming community comes together to help.  Especially with the craziness of the world right now.  It’s good to see good," he said.

While there has been a lot of interest, they are looking for even more volunteers.  Anyone who can donate their time on Sunday can show up at the farm starting at 8 a.m.  The farm is located on Holy Cross Road in Harford County.

There are all levels of work that need to be done around the farm.  Help is needed to spread stone, grade the roads, fix the mower and cleaning up the buildings to get ready for customers.

Doran said they need all kinds of workers to vacuuming, sweep and cleaning windows.

Doran said they have supplies for cleaning up, but if you can bring your own, make sure you put your name on your items.

Doran said the family plans to open Jarrettsville Nursery the day after Thanksgiving at 9 a.m., right on schedule.

You can see a complete list of their hours on the Jarrettsville Nurseries Facebookpage.
