The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation is at it again in its effort to continue to help the underprivileged youth of our area.
On Monday, the foundation hey debuted a new multipurpose field in Harford County; and it’s and named after Ripken matriarch Vi.
"Mom made us understand the importance of community years ago," Cal Ripken Jr. said. "And she's continued to live that way; lead by example. And we were happy we would come back and create this youth development park, a safe place for kids to play and honor mom in the process."
Vi Ripken Field at Ollie's Bargain Outlet will be maintained by the Boys and Girls Club of Harford County, which she had an instrumental role in founding in 1989.
The foundation is halfway to their goal of establishing 50 parks in five years.
