1 to shock trauma after Joppa crash

JOPPA - A woman was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment after a serious crash in Joppa Friday morning.

Shortly before 5:40 a.m. firefighters and medics with the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company were called to the area of Maryland Route 7, or Philadelphia Road, and Fashion Way to handle an accident near that intersection.

A pickup truck and a car were involved in the accident and a woman was trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The seriously injured 20-year-old woman was quickly rescued and taken to shock trauma for treatment.

Another patient at the scene refused transportation to the hospital.

Philadelphia Road was closed for a period of time because of the accident.

Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
