A possible tornado was reported on the Eastern Shore, just across the Bay Bridge.
The weather event lasted about 20 minutes, according to Scott Haas, the director of the Department of Emergency Services.
The National Weather Service reported trees down, roofs off homes, boats tossed into yards and a house on fire in Stevensville early Monday morning. Downed wires were reported and at least 8,000 homes were left without power. Service to about 3,000 customers has been restored as of Monday morning.
Residents should treat any downed wires as if they're hot, Haas said.

A man was taken to University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown with non-life threatening injures. Hospital officials said the man was treated and released.
Residents are urged to shelter in place. A shelter location has been changed to Centreville Middle School. The Red Cross is there assisting those in need.

Route 8 South (Romancoke Road) is closed to local and emergency services only, according to the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office. Emergency crews are on the scene surveying the damage and assisting those affected.
