Jeremy Shockley and his son Daniel jumped into action after hearing a boater distress call go out over the radio.

The call was for a charter boat carrying a class tour from Kent School in Kent County. A total of 23 people were on board, 14 of them fourth graders from the school.

"I had no idea it was tiny kids, children, it was a horrific sight," Jeremy Shockley said.

The boat had hit something near Bloodsworth Island in the Chesapeake Bay and the boat started to sink.

"When I saw them I was scared to death," Daniel Shockley said.

Five people were taken to the hospital, but all of them have been released. Everyone survived.
