Maryland's first lady Yumi Hogan teamed up with the Maryland Food Bank to launch the 2017 Summer Club program.

The program will provide children access to nutritious food year round by delivering about 80,000 meals across central Maryland and Eastern Shore throughout the summer.

With one in six Maryland children not knowing where their next meal will come from, the food bank hopes the program will help children that depend on food from school.

"School being out there is no longer breakfast and lunches so we need to fill that gap somehow," said MFB president and CEO Carmen Del Guercio.

Most of the meals will be prepared in the food bank's community kitchen using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
