The Coast Guard assisted a man Saturday who was injured in a boating accident near Ocean City.
A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew from Coast Guard Station Ocean City was on patrol when friends of the injured man flagged the crew for assistance.
The man had injured his leg and was showing signs of hypothermia.

"After realizing EMS transport from the island would be impractical and time consuming, I decided to intentionally ground our vessel on the northern side of the island and sent two crewmen to assist the victim and to transport him back [to our boat] to be taken to our station where EMS were waiting for him," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrew Sumski.
Awaiting EMS personnel took the man to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
