Coast Guard, good samaritan save 5 from boat

A good samaritan and the Coast Guard combined to rescue five people from a boat taking on water on the Eastern Shore Sunday.

The Coast Guard's Baltimore sector was called at roughly 5:20 p.m. by the operator of a 40-foot boat on the Wicomico River near Taylor's Island that was taking on water.

Sector Baltimore sent a 29-foot response boat to the scene, where a good samaritan had already helped three of the people on board.  The Coast Guard took the two remaining boaters off of the boat before removing the water from said boat.

The boat was delivered back and the boaters were taken to White Point Marina in Kinsale, Va.
