Blood trail leads to shooting victim

SALISBURY, Md. -- Maryland State Police are looking for the person(s) responsible for the death of 24-year-old Dominic Jones.

Jones was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon after troopers responded to the area of Patrick Avenue and Keene Avenue for the report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found what appeared to be blood in the 400 block of Patrick Avenue.

Information was developed about someone, believed to be the victim, who was seen running through the area towards a car before being driven away. Police are maintaining a presence in the area where the crime was believed to have occurred and are continuing their investigation.

Investigators have determined the car is a dark colored car by friends of the victim who may have driven him into the area and then driven him to the hospital after he was shot.

Hospital staff reported Jones arrived with several other males and females. Police have identified the vehicle and are currently interviewing those who accompanied Jones.

Investigators are confident the shooting is not connected with a murder that happened on Sunday in Delmar, for which a suspect has been arrested.
