Plumpton Park Zoo sustained serious damages to several enclosures after a severe thunderstorm hit, forcing management to close as a precaution.
Staff members were able to secure all of the animals.
Earlier Wednesday afternoon, the Cecil County zoo took to social media, calling for volunteers to help with repairs:
Since the zoo's post, people have been volunteering their services around the clock to aid in clean up, construction and other related repairs.
"Lots of people have volunteered and we should be able to complete all of the repairs within 24 hours," Plumpton Park Zoo Owner and Director Nick Lacovara said.
The Plumpton Park Zoo is open all year round except on Christmas and Thanksgiving.
